Ethiopian Airlines has been named the best airline in Africa for the sixth year in a row. The Ethiopian was named in the 2023 world airlines rankings by Skytrax.
“Ethiopian Airlines Group, the fastest-growing airline brand globally and the continent’s leading airline brand, has been crowned with five prestigious accolades at the SKYTRAX 2023 World Airline Awards during the Paris Air Show held in France,” the airline said in a statement.
At the same time, Ethiopian Airlines took the top prize for Africa’s cleanest airline, and Africa’s best in economy and best in business class airline.
In the Best Business Class Airline in Africa and Best Economy Class Airline in Africa categories, the Ethiopian took the prize for the fifth time in a row.

The leading airline also emerged top in the Best Business Class Onboard Catering in Africa 2023 category. This was the second time in a row that the airline was scooping this prize category.
Globally, Singapore Airlines was named as the best airline in the world for 2023. It was followed in the second position by Qatar Airways which had won the world’s best airline title in 2022.
Alarmingly, no airline from Africa was in the top ten world’s best airlines ranking. America’s Delta Airlines was ranked at position ten in the top ten ranking.
