Ferdinand Omanyala among 2,881 police constables graduating at Kiganjo Police College

Africa’s Fastest short-distance sprinter Ferdinand Omanyala is among 2,881 police constables who are graduating today from the National Police College in Kiganjo.

The ceremony will be presided over by the head of state, President William Ruto.

Omanyala joined the National Police Service in December 2021, and he also competes in track events for the National Police Service.

More than a year later, the scintillating sprinter and other recruits completed the Basic Police Training Course.

In addition, they were also taught a variety of extra courses such as Human Rights, Community Policing, Public Order Management, Skills at Arms and Countering Violent Extremism.

In 2021 Omanayala broke out, and the National Police Service (NPS) appointed him as an Inspector.

“The 25-year-old sensational sprinter has taken up a new role that will see him represent the National Police Service in future track events,” wrote the NPS then.

Omanyala now joins an elite group of Kenyan athletes who have represented and worked for the National Police Service. They include David Rudisha, Joshua Kamworor, Vivian Cheruiyot, Julius and the fabled Ezekiel Kemboi.
