Over the past few days, Nairobi has been at the mercies of heavy rains that are wreaking havoc at both posh estates and slums.
Among the upmarket areas that have come under heavy floods include Kilimani area and the Kileleshwa estates. On the opposite end of Nairobi, slums including Mukuru Kayaba have been fighting to remain standing as heavy floods swell up.
In the outskirts of Nairobi in Syokimau, Joska, and Malaa areas on Sunday, residents were either stuck in their homes or kept from the homes by floods.
In Kilimani, residents were evacuated from the Elite Court building which is located along Ole Dume Road. Cars were also reported to have been swept away by floods along Ojijo road in Parklands, Nairobi. Photos that were captured by residents around Kilimani area showed cars submerged in various estate courts.
The Kenya National Highways Authority (KenHA) issued a warning to motorists to avoid plying Raila Odinga Road, Langata Road near Wilson Airport and Links Road- Nyali in Mombasa county following serious flooding.
In Syokimau, some residents and their families went to the rooftops of the buildings as they watched the flooded water and their properties. Residents told the media that water had swelled into their houses at around 3am on Sunday morning.

On Saturday night, multiple vehicles were submerged along the Namanga Road in Kitengela area. Late last week as the rains started pounding the city, areas around Kileleshwa and South C were reported also reported to have been by hit by the floods.
