Mokua’s four-ball triumphs at Kisii leg of KCB East Africa golf tour

The four-ball of Dismas Mokua, Peter Mogendi, Zachary Bichage, and Andrew Nyanusi returned a combined score of 99 points to clinch the KCB East Africa Golf Tour at the par-70 Kisii Golf Club on Saturday.

The team has now qualified for the tour’s grand finale slated for December 5. In the individual category, handicap 20 Josphat Omayo carded an excellent 37 stableford points to be named the overall winner, after beating a huge field.

Speaking at the prize-giving ceremony on behalf of the team, Mokua said: “It is such an honor for us to emerge victorious after a competitive round of golf here at Kisii. We had an amazing four-ball. As a team, we challenged each other on the course, and we knew that we had to take the game seriously for us to win. We intend to go to the grand finale to win.”

Wycliffe Ayienda, who plays off handicap 8, returned 35 points to bag the men’s winner award. In the ladies’ category, Christine Nyangena, who plays off handicap 20, returned 33 points to clinch victory.

In the divisional play, Charles Aburi, handicap 6, took top honors in Division One with 35 points, Moses Lepiren, who plays off handicap 20,  led Division Two with 32 points, and Alanna Osoro (Handicap 40) dominated Division Three, carding 35 points off a handicap of 40.

In the special prizes, Andrew Kombo won the First Nine with 19 points, while Peter Mogendi returned to claim the Second Nine title with 20 points. Sponsor accolades went to Steve Nyamanya (29 pts) and runner-up Eliud Siganga (29 pts). In the guest category, Scola Onsongo posted 28 points to walk away with the Guest Winner award.

The junior category was equally competitive, with Leo Osoro and Amani Kristen tying at 29 points, Leo edging out to win on countback. In the on-course challenges, David Biegon won the Men’s Longest Drive, Elizabeth Mose claimed the Women’s Longest Drive, while K Too walked away with the Nearest to the Pin prize.

The next leg of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour will be held at the Sigona Golf Club on August 9, 2025.
