Fuel prices: Petrol, diesel drop by Sh. 5, kerosene drops by Sh. 4.82

Fuel prices in Kenya have dropped by Sh. 5 per litre. According to the new prices that have been announced by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA), super petrol and diesel will retail at Sh. 5 less per litre while a litre of kerosene will now be Sh. 4.82 cheaper.

“In accordance with Section 101(y) of the Petroleum Act 2019 and Legal Notice No.192 of 2022, EPRA Kenya has calculated the maximum retail prices of petroleum products, which will be in force from 15th January 2024 to February 14th 2024,” said EPRA.

“In the period under review, the maximum allowed petroleum pump price for Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene decrease by Sh. 5, Sh. 5 and Sh. 4.82 per litre respectively.”

In Nairobi, Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene will now retail at Sh.207.36, 196.47 and 194.23 effective midnight for the next 30 days.

EPRA said that the new prices are inclusive of the 16 per cent Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2020 and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020.

In the previous period, petroleum pump price for Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene decreased by Sh. 5.00 per litre, Sh. 2.00 per litre and Sh. 4.01 per litre respectively.

Super petrol sold at Sh. 212.36 per litre. A litre of diesel sold at Sh. 201.47 while a litre of kerosene sold at Sh. 199.05.
