George Ruto: Little-known details of President Ruto’s son who is a pilot

George Kimutai Ruto, the youngest son of President William Ruto, is among the children of Kenya’s politicians who have heavily invested in business, ditching the traditional political route.

George has heavily invested in the local transport industry and owns a growing fleet of luxury matatus and a multi-million-shilling bus.

He is also among the children of Kenyan politicians who have taken up their education in local schools.  He attended Mang’u High School in Kiambu County, where he was known for his calm and cool demeanor.

According to former schoolmates, he kept a low profile but his family’s visits to the school—often in luxury vehicles—drew significant attention.

Upon completing his KCSE, George enrolled at Strathmore University, where he graduated in 2021 with a degree in Actuarial Science.

He later pursued aviation studies in the United Kingdom and is a licensed pilot registered under the Kenya Airline Pilots Association (KALPA).

He is known for his business ventures, particularly his investment in the matatu industry. On Friday, July 18, 2025, George unveiled a flashy new matatu dubbed Mood, the latest addition to his growing fleet.

Besides the matatu industry, George is credited with philanthropic initiatives that continue to leave a lasting impact on communities.

He is the founder of Lisha Mkenya, a humanitarian and non-profit organization providing food and essential products to communities in drought-stricken areas of Northern Kenya.

Established in 2020, Lisha Mkenya also partners with well-wishers and other organisations to empower communities through skill training and mentorship while also partnering with businesses for impactful social initiatives.

Football Interest

George Ruto is also a football fan who has actively contributed in the support of local football. He backs Jamhuri Sports Academy, which clinched the Talanta Super Cup title in Eldoret last year, and has also organized several football tournaments in Nairobi.

The passion for sports has seen him enroll for a master’s degree in sports management with interests in joining football administration in Kenya.
