Rio Ferdinand

The nation’s favourite stout, Guinness, is bringing former Premier League footballer, Rio Ferdinand, to Nairobi from 13th to 15th December to engage in a series of activities and events with football lovers.

Best known for his time playing at Manchester United where he demonstrated determination and leadership both on and off the pitch, as well as great confidence and creative play, he will be in Kenya for two days with the brand to experience the passion of Kenyan football fans first-hand.

Whilst here, he will be meeting local football teams at a soccer camp where he will also be joined by Tabitha Njoroge the renowned Kenyan Premier League football referee who won the title of best referee in Kenya amongst both male and female counterparts in 2014 and Radio personality Carol Radull; he will meet the 12 winners of the Guinness consumer promotion as well as Guinness staff and retailers.

In addition, he will join fans Made of More for a Guinness Fanzone for an afternoon of games which include The Citizens facing The Toffees as Spurs will be facing The Clarets. Here, up to 3,500 fans who have purchased tickets will watch the game live with Rio.

Comments Ms. Nduku Wamakau, Guinness Marketing Manager, Kenya Breweries Limited, “Rio Ferdinand is truly a footballer Made of More and we’re very excited to be bringing him here to Kenya to reward Guinness drinkers.  Over the two days we will be embarking on a whole host of different activities giving him a real insight into the passion that there is for football in this country. He will have the opportunity to meet lots of football fans who are Made of More.”

Early in his career, Ferdinand made the bold decision to follow his dreams to become a footballer.  Having the courage of his convictions meant he regularly appeared in youth teams with London clubs. He was just 19 and 8 days when he earned his first England cap, making him the youngest defender to play for England at the time.

He is one of the most decorated English footballers of all time with 81 England caps and playing in three world cup squads. During his career at Manchester United he won six Premier League titles and 14 trophies, including the Champions League.

Guinness is an iconic beer that has the darkest liquid, but the brightest flavours.  A beer with unparalleled taste, layers of flavour, colour, character and vibrancy.  A beer that has lived in the hearts and minds of millions in Africa and across the world for over 250 years but has always had the authenticity, boldness and vision to do things differently.

Guinness is not just any beer, it strives to set itself apart from the rest as a beer that is Made of More; more character, more flavour.
