Highest paid employees in Kenya

Bankers and insurers have been ranked as the highest paid employees in Kenya. They are followed by employees at water supply, sewerage and waste management firms

According to the Economic Survey 2017 released Wednesday shows that State-employed workers offering financial and insurance services last year pocketed an average Sh.145,233 per month, while their counterparts in the private sector received a monthly pay cheque of Sh.139,793.

Within the public sector, general employees took home an average monthly salary of Sh. 56,923. In the private sector, general employees took home a monthly pay of Sh. 52,443.

Employees working in institutions supplying electricity, gas and air-conditioning on average earned Sh. 121,998 at the end of every month. They were ranked as the second best paid workers in the private sector.

In the public sector, transport and storage workers came in second, receiving an average monthly wage of Sh. 132,578.

Employees working in firms providing administrative and support services in the private sector were third best paid and took home Sh. 116,156 per month.

On the other end, employees in the public sector providing accommodation and food services took home Sh. 121,877.

Institutions that are majority-owned by government as well as parastatals were the highest payers giving their staff an average monthly wage of Sh. 98,379 and Sh. 74,422 respectively.
