On December 1, 2022, Polycarp Igathe will take a position at South Africa’s Tiger Brands. He will be the Chief Growth Officer. How educated is Polycarp Igathe? This is the question on many people’s lips as the job-hopping Igathe lands yet another top position.
Well, Igathe was born on September, 21, 1972. He attended Athi River Primary School and St George’s Primary School Ruiru for his primary school education.
He then went to Nkubu High School for his secondary education. After completing form four, Igathe enrolled at the University of Nairobi for a Bachelor of Arts in Economics & Sociology.
He later joined Strathmore University for Advanced Management Program (AMP) with IESE Business School in Spain.
After graduating, he got his first job in Australia. A year and a half later, he came back to Kenya and started working for Coca-Cola until the year 2000.

He then joined Africa Online as a sales and marketing manager and later joined Kenya Breweries Limited as a sales operations manager and then as a marketing manager.
After that, he joined the manufacturer Haco Tiger Brands where he became the regional MD for East Africa. Igathe worked at Haco for 10 years before joining VIVO Energy.
He has previously held senior job positions at Equity Bank. He left both positions to join politics, first in 2017 when he left Equity to contest as Nairobi deputy governor and in 2022 when he left Equity to contest as the governor for Narobi.
Igathe is married to Catherine whom he introduces as “his life” and says has been at the heart of his success. Together they have three children.
