Huduma Centres to operate from 6 to 7pm

Huduma Centre Working Hours: You will now be able to access services at Huduma Centre for longer hours. This follows a move by the government to extend the number of working hours.

The government through Public Affairs and Gender Cabinet Secretary Margaret Kobia on Monday introduced new working hours for the GPO and City Square Huduma Centres.

Starting today July 16, 2018, the two centres will operate from 6.30am- 7.00 pm on weekdays, in a move aimed at serving the public more efficiently.

It was further communicated that the changes would be rolled out to other centres in due course.

The new Huduma Centre working hours will see staff work on a shift mode, and will also include a thirty minute overlap to ensure smooth hand over of tasks among the staff.

Previously there used to be one shift running from 8am in the morning to 5pm in the evening which was not adequate to meet the demand for services.

“I therefore urge all ministries, departments and agencies whose staff are adopting the shift system to facilitate their staff and ensure there are sufficient staff at their counters in line with optimal staff levels determined by the Huduma Centre Secretariat,” said Kobia.

She further said that this innovation will promote the attainment of the Big Four Agenda as many Kenyans will get access to services during the extended hours and shifts working system, that are Big Four related.

Huduma Centres are now present in each of the 47 counties and are 52 in number, with Nairobi having five centres.
