Mystery of missing Indian tycoon that has left President Ruto furious

Mystery of missing Indian tycoon that has left President Ruto furious

Mystery of missing Indian tycoon, Zulfiqar Khan Ahmed: Indian television magnate Zulfiqar Khan’s mysterious disappearance is a story silently beginning to pile up chaos and carnage at the High Court of Kenya.

Had the tycoon known what awaited him in the land of Kenya, he would not have dared travel.

Mr. Zulifqar Ahmed Khan was having a luxurious time in Kenya as a tourist at the Maasai Mara Park in Narok County on July 21st. At the same time the Kenyan elections were just around the corner; a two-horse race between William Ruto and Raila Odinga.

Mr. Zulfiqar Ahmed shared an image of a lion, inviting friends to join him for breakfast.

“Magical mornings in the Masai Mara. Just imagine when the first encounter you have is with Simba. Breakfast anyone?” he posed.

His trip to Kenya was simply to explore and experience a new country in between his job breaks. Previously about 5 months earlier, Zulfiqar had traveled to Beijing in China to attend the Olympics.

In September 2021, he was in Madrid and was actively sharing pictures on social media to keep his family updated.

Mr. Zulfiqar Ahmed then decided to leave Maasai Mara. Before that, he had informed some of his friends that he intended to travel to India on July 24th and then return to Kenya as the year drew to an end, to witness the great migration.

“We enjoyed watching his social media posts of breath-taking Masai Mara and all the amazing food he was partaking of. In his telephone conversations with friends, he said he was returning on July 24 but planned to be back towards the year-end to witness the Great Migration across the Mara River.” Said one of his friends.

“He had spoken to some of his friends just days earlier and talked about wildlife at length and advised them to visit this ‘lovely’ place. And then Zulfi just disappeared. Without a trace. No contact with family or friends,” he added.

It just happened that Zulfi was the wrong person, at the wrong place and at the wrong time when the alleged ‘abduction’ took place.

Zulfi is a media personality in the Indian network. His LinkedIn profile says that he is a results-driven person and has 19 years of experience across broadcast and digital media companies.

“Five years CXO experience and over 10 years of leading and driving transformational revenue growth in both start-ups (0-100 people) and large and complex organizations (500-2000 people),” he describes himself on the website.

“Rich experience across Strategy, Sales, BD, Revenue and Content Creation across leading organizations like Star India, Eros Now and HOOQ.”

After leaving the Maasai Mara, it is presumed that Zulfiqar Ahmed left for Nairobi where he met up with his friend Zaid Sami Kidwai.

Mr. Zulfiqar Ahmed, his friend Zami Sami Kidwai and their taxi driver Nicodemus Mwania mysteriously vanished from Mombasa road after coming from a club in Westlands on July 24th.

The two Indians are said to have arrived in Kenya in April to join William Ruto’s ICT Campaign team, but they went missing on July 25th. However, it remains unclear whether Mr. Zulfiqar Ahmed was part of the campaign team.

Indian reporters reveal that there is a possibility that his friend Zaid Sami Kidwal was closely working with Hussein Mohammed MBS, the former director of communications in William Ruto’s campaign team.

It is believed that his disappearance in the Lang’ata area, a region under the jurisdiction of Azimio party leader, was probably because they felt he could make a huge difference in the 2022 general elections.

“Anyone supporting Ruto, or suspected to have been supporting Ruto, in an area not under his jurisdiction, was chased, harassed and if they were employees, they got fired,” says an anonymous man who has worked under Ruto’s presidential team.

“Sami used to meet us, he used to meet Hussein and he was very much mastering it (staying undercover). We never met Zulfiqar Khan, nor do we know anything about his role in the campaign.” He added.

According to the anonymous member, the three were for sure abducted and driven off to Maasai Mara and the trail ends there.

The family of Zulfiqar Ahmed has pushed forward a petition to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, as a way of expediting the search process to find him and bring Zulfiqar back home.

The missing Indians’ disappearance is a hot issue in Kenya and is believed to be one of the many reasons that have led to the disbandment of the DCI elite squad, the Special Service Unit.

President Ruto explained that he made his decision after receiving an investigation report last week on the disappearance of the two Indian nationals and their Kenyan taxi driver.

The president said the report recommended the unit be disbanded to pave way for the conclusion of investigations before the file is forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

“I am the one who ordered that the Special Service Unit, which was conducting extrajudicial killings, be disbanded,” President Ruto said in Kericho.

“We have a plan on how to secure this country so that we [can] avoid the shame of Kenyans killed [by the police and their bodies dumped] in Yala River and others. We are going to change this country for the better.”

A top sleuth working with the DCI disclosed to Nation Media that the officers of the Special Service Unit were disarmed and suspended from duty. They have also been put under 24-hour surveillance.

“It remains unclear what the plans are but we shall know with time,” he told Nation

The matter still remains in the High Court of Kenya with a number of hearings having taken place after a habeas corpus petition was filed.
