Johnson Sakaja’s Uganda degree approval has been revoked. The revocation has been done by the Commission for University Education (CUE).
The CUE has said that it needs more time to further investigate the validity and authenticity of the degree’s possession by Sakaja.
“The Commission for University Education has received material information about the authenticity of the degree you (Sakaja) presented from Team University that will require further investigation to ascertain the validity of the said-degree certificate,”
CUE’s chairperson Chacha Nyaigotti said in a June 14 letter addressed to the senator.
“Consequently, in accordance to the CUE Recognition Procedures, we hereby revoke the recognition of your degree – Bachelor of Science in Management (External) from the aforementioned university.”
Prof. Nyaigotti also sent a copy of the letter to the chairperson of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Wafula Chebukati and Prof. George Magoha, the Cabinet Secretary of Education.

Sakaja has found himself unable to substantiate with honesty where and when he graduated with a degree. Whereas he has previously alleged to have graduated from the University of Nairobi with a degree in actuarial science, the university has come out to say that he has never graduated there.
Now, the Senator has turned around and claimed to have graduated from TEAMS University in Uganda, even though he has previously denied ever studying outside Kenya. His name was also not found in the booklet that contained names of other graduates from TEAMS in the year he claims to have graduated.
Sakaja has also refused to table proof of receipts or money transactions showing that he paid fees to the institution.
