OPINION FEATURE BY EPHRAIM NJEGA: The year is almost coming to an end and looking back it has been a tough one. The current economic cycle under the Jubilee government characterised by an informal recession has stubbornly persisted.
It has become an annual song to lament on how bad things have been. Yet the next year turns out worse despite a heavy investment in hope.
The country has been reduced into a temple of impunity. We have been bombarded with endless tales of scandals. It is a miracle we remain sane and ready for further beating.
What is worse is that the so called leaders have abandoned the people and fled into an Utopian world where all is rosy. How can it not be when the masses are willing to slave to death to sustain a high flying life for intellectually emaciated and morally crippled government leeches.
The country has never been in a more precarious and hopeless situation. We have regressed socially, economically and politically. The more you stare into the future the more scaring it becomes.
Clueless clowns are lining up to take over at the next election and there is no worthy challenger in sight.
We are told to thank the dealers posing as leaders for allowing us to suffer in peace. What is the price to pay for the so called peace? Is it peace for the suffering masses or the eating few?
I think it is time our generation decides whether we continue living on our knees or rising up and taking our country back from the thugs in power and their opposition flower girls.
There is a price at which peace loses meaning. We are hurtling towards that point. I remain hopeful that these criminals will not always happily dance atop the graves of their victims.
A time must come when they too share in the pain and suffering they have created over the years.
