Jumia: Expanding e-commerce to rural areas of Kenya

According to the recently released Jumia Rural E-commerce report, the company’s strategy is to extend its reach beyond Nairobi using its offline sales model, known as “JForce” to reach the underserved regions and give them access to quality products and at the best prices.

“The report cites Beauty and Perfumes as the top category from rural consumers at 16%, Home and Phones categories at 11%, TV, audio & Video at 10% while only 7% of rural consumers purchased Computing items at 7%.

Consumers leveraged Jumia’s best prices as the main reason for shopping online and at the same time satisfied by product availability on the platform,”

said Hellen Ng’ang’a, CMO, of Jumia Kenya.
