Centum’s K-Rep Bank changes name to Sidian Bank in re-branding move

K-Rep Bank has announced that it is changing its name in a re-branding strategy. Ina circular letter sent to the Central Bank of Kenya and all banks under the Kenya Bankers Association, K-Rep’s new brand and name will come into effect starting April 4 this year.

“They will also re-brand to incorporate new designs for their customer cheques and bankers cheques,” said the Kenya Bankers Association chief executive officer, Habil Olaka.

K-Rep started as an non-governmental organisation before converting to a micro-financier in 1989 and later to a bank in 1999.

It has 37 branches across the country and had Sh17.9 billion assets as at September 2015 while its profit stood at Sh281.3 million.

The bank is owned by Centum Investments which is greatly associated with billionaire investor Chris Kirubi. In October last year, Centum injected Sh1.2 billion into K-Rep raising the bank’s core capital to Sh3.8 billion.
