Papa Shirandula died on car seat outside hospital, widow reveals

The Karen Hospital has been blamed for celebrated actor Papa Shirandula’s death. This happened on Monday morning during the actor’s burial, when the actor’s wife accused Karen Hospital of negligence.

“I wish they had done everything for him,” Beatrice Andega, Shirandula’s wife said. Beatrice said that the hospital only carried out COVID-19 test leaving out other tests like malaria and pneumonia as it had been required.

Ms. Andega told mourners that hospital staff dragged their feet in attending to her husband when she took him for treatment on Saturday.

“They didn’t consider his condition an emergency and he died while we were at the waiting bay,” she said. “When he went to hospital, he requested for three tests of malaria, pneumonia and Covid-19 but the hospital concentrated only on Covid and ignored the rest.”

She revealed that her husband died while seated on a car seat. “My husband died while seated on a seat in the car, he was yet to be admitted. He was a responsible man who loved his family,” she said.

Papa Shirandula was buried at the family’s graveside behind his house and next to two of his siblings’ graves. His father, Cosmas Bukeko Wafula, said the body was buried facing the homestead in line with Luhya traditions so as ‘to guard the family from invasions.
