KCPE 2020 Results: The 2020 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination results have been released. The results were released by Professor George Magoha who is the cabinet secretary for education.
In the results, the top candidate was Faith Mumo who scored 433 marks out of the possible 500. She was followed by Wesonga Nanzala with 432 marks. Angel Gakeni also scored 432. Catsrol William, 431, Tarus Maina 431, and Mwangi Margaret 429.
The first four top pupils were from public schools. Ten out of fifteen top slots went to public schools in the KCPE 2020 examinations.
In the 2019 KCPE results, the top candidate was Andy Michael Munyiri who scored 440 marks out of the possible 500. 9,770 candidates scored 400 marks and above in that year’s examinations.

The 2020 KCPE exams started on March 22 and ended on March 24 with rehearsals having been done on March 19. Some 1,181,725 candidates sat the exam which is an increase from 1,083,456 learners who sat the 2019 exam.
This year’s examinations were rocked by controversy after it emerged that the Kenya National Examinations Council lifted Social Studies and English exams from two books that had been widely circulated to Class 8 candidates prior to sitting the national exams. Apparently, the candidates, mostly those in private schools had already done the tests in February 2021 after purchasing the books published by Distinction Educational Publishers.
