KCPE Top Public Schools: Public schools in Kenya have scored a major win in the 2020 KCPE results. The results, which were released by education cabinet secretary Professor George Magoha on Thursday afternoon shows that ten out of the top fifteen positions were taken by candidates from public schools.
Four of the best candidates, including the top candidate were all from public schools.
This is a major win for public schools. Over the last few years, the top positions have been dominated by private schools. In the results, the top candidate was Faith Mumo who scored 433 marks out of the possible 500. She is from Kari Mwailu Primary School in Makueni county.
She was followed by Wesonga Nanzala with 432 marks from Chogoria Girls Primary School. Angel Gakeni also scored 432. Catsrol William, 431, Tarus Maina 431, and Mwangi Margaret 429. Nine thousand students attained above 400 marks.

However, the top score was drop from what was scored in the previous exams. In the 2019 KCPE results, the top candidate was Andy Michael Munyiri who scored 440 marks out of the possible 500. 9,770 candidates scored 400 marks and above in that year’s examinations.
