It’s an exciting season for Francis Erodi, a fresh face within the ranks of the Kenya Defence Forces. Above all, nothing can dull the moment for his proud mother.
After years of labour and turmoil, she finally witnessed her son’s graduation from military training school.
As Francis Erodi marched head held high during the Kenya Defence Forces pass-out parade, the mother of 7 couldn’t contain her overflowing pride.
Mama Erodi reportedly earned a living by washing clothes for others. Her beaming smile spoke volumes about her joy at that moment.
She had given her all for her son’s success. Francis Erodi, in turn, didn’t let her down. He remained faithful to his vision and honoured his mother’s efforts throughout the years.
After years of struggle, her son was finally in the military. This was a happy ending to the story and possibly the dawn of a new life of uplifting for the family.
Social media influencer and brand ambassador Alfred Koech shared photos of Mama Erodi celebrating with the KDF soldier dressed in his official regalia after the ceremony.
“It is wonderful to see that you have risen to the challenge and made her proud. Wishing you a bright future and continued success…represent our village well,” he captioned the post.
In an exclusive interview, Erodi’s best friend and neighbour Kelvin Lagat revealed that the young soldier completed his secondary education at Mogona Secondary School in Kisii. In his high school days, he was well-known for his athleticism.

“He deserves that job. His talent allowed him to complete high school without paying school fees, so his mother supported him in terms of transport back to school,” he said.
After secondary education, Francis Erodi joined the Kenya Army volleyball team and became the Champion of the 2019 national ball games in Kisumu.
Through this feat, he got the chance to enrol in military school which saw him graduate recently as a full soldier of the motherland. However, the unsung hero in Erodi’s development is his mother who has always been cheering him on.
