Responding to requests from consumers, Kenafric Industries Limited, one of the largest makers of confectionery, food spices and beverages in Kenya, has added strawberry flavour to the six variants of Fresh Chewing Gum.  This new product is available in three different formats named Pillow Pack (four pellets), Stick Pack (ten pellets) and Zipper Pouch (20 pellets) and the price ranges between five shillings and 35 shillings per pack.

They are also available in other countries in the region including Uganda, Tanzania and DRC.

Mwalo Owiti, the Kenafric Industries Sales and Marketing Manager, explained, “Generally strawberry is a very popular flavour and our new Fresh chewing gum has an exciting taste full of strawberry goodness.  It is packed in an attractive red pack and is targeted at our existing and new chewing gum customers.  Sampling of this product has been held at roundabouts, bus stops and the matatu terminus at the railway station in Nairobi.”

“In addition we a running a promotion whereby customers are required to take photos of themselves and their old, or new friends holding up the new Fresh Strawberry Chewing Gum and upload them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram page with #FreshStrawberry#friendshipchallenge as the hashtag.  Consumers are requested to send as many pictures as possible to increase their chances of winning.  Fans with the highest number of “likes” at the end of each week will win gift hampers, lunch vouchers, or pair of cinema tickets to watch “The Transformers” movie.  This campaign runs up to end of June, 2017.”

“Kenafric Industries Limited launched the Fresh Chewing Gum brand in 2012. Driven by innovation and responsiveness to the market needs, it has grown to be a market leader in the chewing gum category in some regions notably the Western Kenya.  It has achieved a strong second position in the rest of the country.”
