Kenya named top regional investment hub

The Ernst & Young (EY) Africa attractiveness index released last week has placed Kenya as the fourth most attractive place to invest in Africa and the leading investment hub in the East Africa region.

In the continent, Kenya came behind South Africa, Morrocco, and Egypt. In the East African region, Rwanda was placed at position nine while Uganda and Tanzania came in at position 13 and 12 respectively.

The ranking comes in the wake of Kenya’s macroeconomic challenges in 2015, marked by fluctuation of the shilling against the dollar.

More economic bumps across East Africa were a result of a general slowdown in emerging market economies, stagnation in most developed economies and higher borrowing costs locally.
