Kenya Police Jobs: Recruitment of 10,000 Officers by National Police Service

Co-Op post

STATEMENT BY THE CHAIRPERSON OF THE NATIONAL POLICE SERVICE COMMISSION, JOHNSTON M. KAVULUDI, ON THE 2016 RECRUITMENT OF POLICE CONSTABLES

In pursuance of the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) mandate and taking cognizance of the Government’s priority to build capacity of the National Police Service (NPS), the Commission is embarking on the recruitment of 10,000 officers to be trained to join the National Police Service as Constables.

Cognizant of Article 246 of the Constitution and Section 10 (2) of the NPSC Act and pursuant to regulation 7 (3) of the NPSC Recruitment and Appointment Regulations 2015, the Commission has delegated to the Inspector-General the recruitment of the 2016 police constables.

The urgency to undertake this process cannot be over-emphasized as we are well aware of the important role that the security organs and especially the National Police Service plays in the security of our Country.

The successful passing out of these officers will no doubt bring our ratio of police to the public closer to the internationally recognized standards.

The Commission has in the last three weeks undertaken stringent preparations which have brought together officers from both the NPSC and the NPS who have worked on the finer details of this exercise and we are confident that the 2016 recruitment exercise shall be a success.

Subsequently, the 2016 police recruitment process will commence on Monday 4th April 2016 at 8.am and continue till 5.00p.m.

It will be conducted in 331 recruitment centers spread out in all the 290 Constituencies across the Country.

No police officers apart from those appointed by the Inspector-General to oversee this year’s recruitment shall be allowed within the precincts of the recruiting centers.

In addition any other person or institution that wants to witness or observe the exercise must seek and obtain accreditation from the Inspector General. Full details of the recruitment centers will be published on Friday 25th March 2016.

This recruitment exercise is free of charge. Any applicant who directly or indirectly canvasses will not only be disqualified but further face the full force of the law.

I therefore take this opportunity to urge all Kenyans who are interested and eligible to serve in our National Police Service to report to the recruiting centers on the dates and venues specified above.
