Kenya suffered a nationwide blackout on Tuesday morning. The blackout started sometime around 11am. In a statement, the national power provider, Kenya Power, blamed system disturbance as the cause of the nationwide blackout.
“11.09 am this morning, we lost power supply due to a system disturbance, affecting parts of Nairobi, Coast, and Mt Kenya regions,” said Kenya Power.

“We are working, in collaboration with other sector players, to restore the power supply as soon as possible. An update on the restoration progress will be issued in due course. We apologise to our customers for the inconvenience caused.”
The blackout came barely 24 hours after yet another system glitch caused delays in the purchasing of power tokens.
“Good evening, we are currently addressing the technical hitch affecting token purchase. Please bear with us, apologies for any inconvenience,” Kenya Power had sent out a notice on Tuesday.
A few moons ago, Kenya Power gained global attention when it blamed a previous nationwide power outage on monkeys.
