Over 1,000 Kenyan casual workers set to work in Israel earning Sh228,000 per month

The government of Kenya has announced plans to export casual labourers to work in Israel agricultural fields.

The opportunities announced on Wednesday by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection during a bilateral discussion with delegates from Israel in Nairobi are set to benefit at least 1,500 Kenyan workers.

“These opportunities number about 1,500 with a guaranteed net income of  Ksh228,000 (USD 1500) per month, on 3 years renewable contracts,” the Kenyan government stated.

Interested Kenyans will be recruited through select agencies approved by the National Employment Authority.

The announcent came barely a month after president William Ruro announced plans to export 5,000 Kenyans weekly to work abroad.

“I have agreed with Bore (Labour CS Florence Bore) that we will sign bilateral labour agreements so that we export labour from Kenya. We want to export 3,000 to 5,000 Kenyans every week so that they can go and work abroad to sustain their livelihood and also bring us money,” President Ruto said.

The Head of State added that his government is in talks with several foreign countries with a view to creating more job opportunities for Kenyans abroad. The countries include Saudi Arabia, Germany and France.
