Top schools where Kenyan celebs’ children have joined Form One

On Monday, January 15th, Form 1 admission for the last batch of students expected to sit their KCSE in 2027 began on a nationwide scale. 1.6 million KCPE candidates are expected to transition to the next education level.

A total of 717,358 boys and 682,971 girls secured placements in various categories of schools, including Nationals, Extra-County, County, Sub-county and Special Needs Education schools.

This year, a sizeable chunk of Kenyan celebs’ children are embarking on a new chapter in their lives as they prepare to begin their high school journey.

Their popular parents and guardians took to social media to share their joy in the children’s achievements. Here is a list of some of these popular names and the top schools they have joined.

1. Jeridah Andayi, Norah Zawadi – Alliance Girls High School

Popular Radio Citizen presenter could not contain her joy as her daughter, Norah Zawadi, secured admission to Alliance Girls High School.

As Jeridah bid farewell to her daughter heading to boarding school for the first time, an outpouring of emotions flowed. It was a bittersweet moment for Jerida in a touching send-off TikTok video.

Both expressed that they would miss each other tremendously, particularly in moments of sharing juicy gossip.

With their usual humour and a blend of mother-daughter camaraderie, they jokingly bantered Neema, teasing that she didn’t have good gossip compared to Nora’s, despite several lessons.

“Neema just reports to me what happens. You’re the one with the juiciest gossip around,” Jerida remarked.

Just like her mother, netizens wondered whether Nora would be able to manage in a boarding school. She admitted to having thought about putting her in a day school, stating that she’s still ‘a baby’.

2. Alex Mathenge, Raphael Shawnleo – Mang’u High School

In a rare family post, actor and film producer Alex Mathenge joyfully announced his son’s enrollment at Mang’u High School. The post reflected parental pride in his son’s achievement.

He captioned, “My firstborn @smoothshawnleo joined Mang’u High School today! We thank God! I am a very proud Dad. Na sasa muanze kuniongelesha na heshima kidogo niko na kijana ako high school (on a light note)”

The top KCPE candidate of 2023, Michael Warutere, who scored 428 marks, also enrolled at Mang’u High School.

3. Abel Mutua, Stephanie Mumbua

Abel Mutua’s daughter, Stephanie Mumbua, affectionately known as Mumbus, is among the millions of candidates joining high school. However, Mkurugenzi has not disclosed which school she will be attending.

He only noted that his daughter would be joining a boarding school in the country. He and Bi. Mkuru, playfully hinted that they would miss her for a short while before the party begins.

“Anaenda boarding. Naskia fiti sana. Unajua huyo mtoi alikuja nikiwa 24. Hizi sherehe mmekuwa mkipiga hapa mimi sikuwahi piga,” he said.

“Judy cannot wait. Afadhali mimi nilikuwa 24, she was 23 when we got her. Although after 2 weeks hivi tutamhata, but we’ll cross that bridge when we get there. For now, wacha akwende,” Mkurugenzi jokingly remarked.

The couple congratulated their daughter on an outstanding performance when KCPE results were released. For the curious cats who inquired what Mumbus got in her KCPE, Abel addressed this by asking them to find her and ask directly.

“Sasa Mumbus ashakuwa mtu wa internet. Mtafuteni tu pale mumuulize tu. Atawaambia. But nyinyi jueni sisi tuko sawa.”

He, however, promised to reveal details of the school she has joined.

4. David Rudisha’s daughter – Kaplong Girls High School

Two time olympic champion and 800-meter world record holder accompanied his daughter for admission to Kaplomg Girls High School in Bomet.

“Your high school journey has started and we wish you nothing but the best,” he wrote on his X account.

5. DJ Moh Spice’s daughter – Alliance Girls High School

Renowned reggae entertainer Nicholas Mugo Mwangi, alias Dj Moh Spice, proudly shared that his daughter was transitioning to high school at Alliance Girls. His daughter scored an impressive 418 marks in KCPE.

He was accompanied by his older brother, DJ Kymnickdee who witnessed his niece in the iconic green and white Alliance uniform.

“Today is the first day of a new adventure…embrace it, my child and make the most of it,” he wrote on his Instagram.

6. Ben Bii Kaproron’s daughter – Sironga Girls High School

Popular Kalenjin Benga musician and businessman, Ben Bii enrolled his daughter who scored 400 marks in KCPE at Sironga Girls High School in Nyamira County.
