Four Kenyans have been working as nurses in US with fake diplomas. The four are among ten nurses whose licenses have been revoked by the Washington Department of Health (WDH).
The four Kenyans are Ndungu Gabriel, Waithera Irene, Kamau Ruth and Nganga Elizabeth.
Authorities in the United States have been running a crackdown on nurses who graduated from nursing schools in the State of Florida. This is after a nursing school in Florida was found to have issued diplomas for a fee to over 15,000 people to operate as nurses without meeting academic and clinical qualifications.
“In conjunction with ongoing investigations into the legitimacy of multiple Florida-based nursing schools, the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission (NCQAC) has taken non-disciplinary action to rescind the nursing (RN) license of the following individuals…” the WHD said.
Nursing schools in Florida are said to have been charging between Sh. 1.3 million and Sh. 1.9 million for each fake diploma. The schools that have been flagged so far are Siena College, Sacred Heart International Institute and Palm Beach School of Nursing.
