President William Ruto has promised that the wife of the late athlete Kelvin Kiptum will get a second new house.
“I have already given the family Sh. 5 million and now the government will give him another new house beside the house we have built here and it will belong to Kiptum’s wife Asenath Rotich,” said Ruto during the funeral service for the late Kiptum.
He eulogized Kiptum as a disciplined hard worker. “Kiptum worked against the odds. In Kelvin, we saw the future of athletics in Kenya. He stood out not only as a great athlete but more importantly as a good person. He was ambitious, disciplined and focused,” said President Ruto.
This will be the third house the government is building the family of the late Kiptum. Two weeks ago, President Ruto ordered that a house be built for Kiptum before his burial.
The construction of the house took about a week, and has since divided opinion on the quality of the house and the rush to set it up. At the same time, the government is also constructing a house for Kiptum’s father on the same compound where his new house stands.
During his burial, Kiptum’s wife revealed that she and the late athlete were set to officialize their marriage with a wedding in April this year.
