Kitengela school charging Sh. 500,000 fees rejects poor KCPE results

A school in Kitengela that charges half a million shillings in fees is angry over poor KCPE results its class of 2022 has posted.

The school which was identified as  Kitengela International Schools has rejected the results and argued that they do noy reflect previous performance.

The school told a local media house that its headteacher John Wanyonyi has already launched a protest with the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).

“The matter has been received and acknowledged by the KNEC and follow-up has commenced. We should expect to hear from them between Friday, today and December 29,” said Wanyonyi.

Angry parent rants over daughter’s 368 marks KCPE performance

Wanyonyi however refused to reveal the low marks the school had posted. Instead, he urged the school’s parents to put the matter before God and hope for a positive reaction by the national examinations body by December 29.

In the KCPE results that were released on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, the top candidate scored 431 marks. Over 9,000 candidates scored over 400 marks. 39 candidates with special needs scored over 400 marks.

Private schools in Kenya are fond of using high performance in national examinations to market themselves.

The apparent poor performance by the Kitengela school leaves the institution at risk of losing students, especially with exorbitant fees that are alleged to be in the range of Sh. 500,000.
