Kenya Airways has confirmed that a second passenger has died aboard its flight within two weeks. The passenger died aboard the KQ US flight on September 2, 2022.
Kenya Airways said that the unnamed passenger passed away on September 2, 2022 at around 6.30am. “A passenger was found to be unresponsive,” said the national carrier, while explaining that this incident happened aboard flight KQ002.
“Upon further medical examination, personnel confirmed that the passenger had passed away. The flight had departed Nairobi per schedule on Thursday September 1 at 11.55pm,” a statement from the national carrier said.
“We convey our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and sincerely apologise to our other guests for the inconvenience.”
On August 22, a passenger died aboard flight KQ003 from New York. This passenger who was identified as Peterson Njuguna Mwangi, 66, was a dual citizen of the US and Kenya.

He developed breathing difficulties seven hours after the plane had taken off from New York before he died.
His health condition saw KQ declare a medical emergency and reroute to Morocco. However, upon landing in Morocco, the passenger was pronounced dead. His family said that he had a long history of struggle with diabetes.
