Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has announced 1,500 job opportunities as it seeks to recruit new cadets and rangers.
In an advertisement appearing in the weekly paper-MyGov dated March 19, KWS says it will be recruiting 1, 350 rangers and 150 cadets (Assistant Warden I)to join the service.
The recruitment exercise will be conducted between April 15 to April 19 at different centres across the 47 counties.
“The service operates in a remote environment and seeks to recruit dynamic individuals…who can endure the condition for training and deployment to various conservation areas in response to the wildlife protection challenges currently being experienced in the country,” KWS stated.
For recruitment as a cadet, one must be a Kenyan Citizen aged 28 years and below with no criminal record.

They should also have a Bachelors degree from a recognized institution with a minimum of a second class honors lower division in wildlife management, natural resources management, environmental science, range management, veterinary medicine, criminology, and security management, tourism management, education, sociology or community development.
Interested applicants have been advised to download the prescribed application form or obtain it from the KWS National Park stations and deliver their application with relevant academic and professional certificates by April 8.
Successful applicants will undergo mandatory paramilitary training for nine months.
On the other hand, those wishing to be recruited as rangers are required to be Kenyan citizens aged between 18 and 28.
In addition, they must possess a minimum KCSE mean grade of D plain or its equivalent from a recognized examination body in Kenya.
KWS clarified that on the recruitment date, these individuals will be expected to present a duly filled prescribed form, all relevant academic certificates, and a national ID for verification.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo six months of mandatory paramilitary training and thereafter deployed to the field.
