Earlier this year, George Limiri, along with his wife Mekenze and their three children, made the decision to leave their life in the United States and relocate to Meru, Kenya.

The couple have built an expensive bungalow on 2 acres in their village.

The couple practices mixed farming on their land. Speaking on why they agreed to relocate from the US, Mekenze stated that Kenya had a more serene and beautiful environment to raise their kids.

“Raising our children in the US was great…However, as the children got older and more active, we figured it would be best to introduce them to a different environment,” she noted in a past interview.

Mekenze insisted that it was important for her kids to experience their father’s culture and be connected with their African roots.

“George and I wanted them to experience life here and get to know the other half of their family. It was really important for them to know the culture,” she said.

The couple now seems to have taken an entrepreneurship edge, having started a Tours & Travel Company, Limiri Travels and recently, Limiri Coffee.

Announcing on social media, Mekenze announced that they had produced the first batch of Limiri Farms Coffee.

“If you are here in Kenya or the USA and want to be one of the first to try our Limiri Farms Coffee, please comment or message us so we can include your order in this first batch,” she wrote in the announcement.

The couple has set the price for a 250-gram bag at Sh. 1,000 for Kenyan customers.

Those in the United States interested in sampling their coffee would need to pay Sh. 3,700 for a 450-gram bag, in addition to a Sh. 700 shipping fee.

How George and Mekenze Limiri met

George and Mekenze Limiri first crossed paths in Las Vegas back in 2012. At that time, George was the owner of a record label, and it was through his involvement in music that he got his first taste to entrepreneurship.

Mekenze loved music from her early days. Growing up in Utah, US, she took part in many music competitions. The pair met through a mutual friend, who informed Mekenze that George was looking for a vocalist.

“We met through a mutual friend. George was looking for a vocalist and this friend told me about it. I grew up singing, so when I heard of the opportunity, I was all in,” she recounted.

Initially, their relationship was strictly professional as they collaborated on music projects together.

However, it didn’t take long for the two of them to develop deep feelings for each other, given the countless hours they spent practising and working together.

By the end of 2012, their love story culminated in a beautiful wedding ceremony in Utah, a momentous occasion for the bride’s and groom’s families.

They have three children together namely Lukas Thuranira, Londynn Nkirote and Liam Muthomi.

The whole family lives in Kenya and the kids are home-schooled, a concept that took some time for George’s family to grasp.
