Malaysian Businesses Visit Konza Technopolis to Explore Investment Opportunities

A contingent of Malaysian business community is in the country to explore various investment opportunities with a focus on the information, communication and technology sectors.

The delegates from 12 companies are visiting the country for the week and paid a visit to Konza Technopolis where they explored various investment opportunities.

“We are visiting Konza Technopolis to explore potential areas of collaboration given that it’s a smart city where our main areas of investment is focused on,” Mr. Wan Murdani Wan Mohamad – VP/Head, Digital Industry Acceleration, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) said.

The companies visiting the country are involved in Data analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), risk management solutions, financial analytics, consulting services, digital transformation, enterprise solutions, Business Process Outsourcing and creative arts. Other areas of their investments are digital facility management, the Internet of Things (IoT) platform offering real-time data collection, monitoring, and analysis, and supporting industries like smart cities, agriculture, and healthcare.

“As Konza Technopolis we are delighted to host the Malaysian delegation. Their areas of operations is exciting to us as we are also focused on those sectors as a smart city,” John Paul Okwiri, Konza Technopolis CEO said.

In June, the Silicon Savannah received US$284 million from the Korean government for the establishment of the Konza Digital Media City (KDMC) designed to position Kenya as a creative and content industry leader in Africa by providing a state-of-the-art facility to promote the emerging creative sector.

“The visits coincide with our plan to develop the KDMC and we look forward to collaborating with some of these companies on developing the creative sector,” Okwiri added.

The Konza Digital Media City project aims to develop a top-tier digital media hub by establishing both the critical infrastructure and programs needed to unlock the opportunity that the creative sector in a digital economy presents. The facility will host, among others, multi-media training institutes, digital media enterprises, postproduction studios (gaming and animation), and music production, among other digital media content.

Similarly, Konza with a licensed drone zone, plans to collaborate with one of the Malaysian companies, Meraque which offers Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to offer various solutions such as surveying, pest control, and deliveries of goods among others.

Other potential investment sectors include AI Smartual Learning which is specializes in AI-powered smart learning solutions, offering personalized and adaptive educational experiences through an interactive platform with gamification and real-time progress tracking, aimed at transforming traditional education. Konza Technopolis is hosting the Open University of Kenya (OUK) which offers online learning.

The Malaysian businesses are also involved AI MSP, providing advanced cybersecurity solutions, merging AI and machine learning to enhance threat detection, prevent cyberattacks, and support business growth with robust security services The iBizzCloud offers cloud-based business solutions that streamline processes, enhance productivity, and enable digital transformation for enterprises through advanced automation and data management tools.
