What Rashid Abdalla, Lulu Hassan were paid for top Maria Show

The Maria Show which aired on Citizen Tv emerged as one of the top shows in Kenya. The show was associated with Citizen Tv celebrity couple Lulu Hassan and Rashid Abdala and went down as one of the most famous alongside the legendary shows like Tausi.

But how much did Citizen pay for each of the Maria show episodes? According to a report that appeared in a local news channel, Royal Media Services purchases local content at between Sh. 100,000 and Sh. 250,000 per episode.

In the same vein, the cast of the show were paid between Sh. 10,000 and Sh. 25,000 per episode. This, however, depended on the character and roles played.

The report further laid out a payment contrast on how other media pays for shows. “MNet purchases local content at between Sh. 400,000 and Sh. 500,000 per episode. KTN, NTV, K24 and KBC purchase content at around Sh. 100,000 per episode,” the report said.

It added that cast in shows played by KTN and NTV earn between Sh. 5,000 – Sh. 10,000.

Maria is not the only show that Lulu and Abdalla have produced. The couple is also behind the shows Moyo and Aziza drama series which also aired on Citizen.
