Highly rated news anchor Mark Masai is among the top journalists fired by the Nation Media Group (NMG).
Masai and a host of other top journalists have lost their jobs barely a day after Nation Media Group chief executive officer Stephen Gitagama announced that the media house would be sending tens of journalists home in what has been termed as restructuring.
Other top journalists who have received their sack letters include Churchill Otieno, the head of news and managing editor, Peter Ngare, who has been the managing editor for Taifa Leo; and Guchu Ndung’u, who has been the editor for Political and Parliamentary Affairs.

Also fired are Joan Pereruan, who has been the photo editor; Vincent Achuka, the investigative news reporter; Silas Apolo, who has been working as a news reporter; and Harry Misiko, an Alfred Friendly Fellow.
Reports say that more journalists are on the chopping board and are due to receive their sack letters any time.
