Ministry of Education announces 1,000 internships for diploma and degree holders

The Ministry of Education, State Department for Basic Education, has announced 1,000 internship opportunities for both diploma and degree holders.

In a notice on Tuesday’s issue of My Gov, the Public Service Commission (PSC) called on qualified candidates to apply.

“The Ministry of Education, State Department for Basic Education, has declared 1,000 internship vacancies under the Digital Literacy Programme (DLP) Cohort 4,” the notice read in part.

Interested candidates must have graduated not earlier than 2020 and have a Bachelor’s degree in Education with specialisation in Information Communication Technology or a Bachelor’s degree in ICT.

Candidates with a Diploma in ICT or ICT Integration in Education from a recognized institution will also be considered.

Additionally, interested candidates should be knowledgeable in networking and infrastructure, application development, information security, and project management.

Candidates should have the ability to integrate ICT with Education in terms of E-Learning and content development, and have the requisite skills to carry out research and innovation to support the Digital Literacy Programme.

Further, they should be willing to be deployed to any Sub-County Education office on a full-time basis.

Internship Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be required to:

  1. Support E-Learning and content development in line with the schemes of work.
  2. Provide class support and training of Primary School teachers in use of digital literacy devices.
  3. Support the implementation of the Digital Learning Programme.
  4. Carry out innovations to enable schools to improve on use of digital learning.
  5. Provide support in safe, secure and ethical use of technology in learning.
  6. Assist teachers by integrating ICT in delivery of teaching, learning and assessment.
  7. Support staff with the development and production of key school policies and procedures.
  8. Providing first-line support and maintenance of ICT services in the schools.

The internship duration is twelve (12) months and is non-renewable. Successful candidates will be appointed and deployed to schools at sub-county level.

The interns will be paid a stipend by the Ministry of Education, at a rate determined by the Government.

On successful completion of the Internship Programme, the interns will be awarded a certificate by the State Department for Basic Education.
