A man who was identified as Morris Njuguna has shocked detectives after he confessed to killing his wife Risper Ndunge.
Njuguna narrated to the police how he murdered his wife Risper and stuffed her body in a suitcase. He then put the suitcase in a white gunny bag and threw it about 500 metres away from their place.
The confession is detailed in a statement that was recorded by detectives on April 22.
In the statement, Njuguna who is 28 years old said that he committed the crime on the night of April 18 at Mitikenda Estate on the outskirts of Ruiru town.
He had been working as a chef at a small restaurant business in Ruiru while his wife worked as the cashier at the same establishment. Njuguna narrated that he was the one who had recommended that Ndunge be hired as a cashier.
On the night he killed Ndunge, Njuguna said that he hit her head against the wall, killing her instantly.
“I tied up the sack’s opening with a string and set out to dump the body,” he said. Her body was discovered the following day, about 500 metres from their rented house in Kamakis area along the Eastern Bypass.
“I abandoned the suitcase near a rental house and went back home. I was scheming on how to run away but I had no money, so I delayed,” he said.

According to detectives, Njuguna took off after committing the murder. The police said that the couple had fought in the morning of that fateful day over infidelity.
They said that on that morning, Njuguna had left home earlier than usual. He had then purchased a gunny bag at Sh. 150 which is suspected as the one he used to stash the suitcase after killing Ndunge.
Once the body was identified, Njuguna was named as the prime suspect. He was tracked through his mobile phone and arrested at his ancestral home in Makuyu, Murang’a County.
The police took him to his home in Kamakis where blood stains were discovered.
