The Nairobi Expressway charges have been increased. Under the new rates, Kenyans who want to use the Expressway will now have to cough up to 50 per cent more.
The new rates have been announced through a gazette notice dated December 19 2023 that has now been approved by Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen.
“In Exercise of the powers conferred by section 4B(3) of the Public Roads Tolls Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport approves the toll rates for the Nairobi Expressway as set out in the Schedule hereto,” the gazette notice stated.
According to the gazette notice, the least amount motorists will pay to use the Expressway is Sh. 170. Previously, the least amount was Sh. 120.

At the same time, the highest amount will be Sh. 500. Previously, the highest amount was Sh. 360.
Under the new charges, motorists going from the Westlands to JKIA and Eastern Bypass routes will pay Sh. 420. Those driving from Westlands to Southern Bypass will be charged Sh. 330.
The Westlands to Haile Selassie and Capital Centre route will now be charged Sh. 250 while Westlands to Museum Hill will be charges Sh. 170.
Motorists traveling between Museum Hill to Mlolongo exit will be charged Sh. 500, those from Museum Hill to Syokimau will now be charged Sh. 410.
Museum Hill to JKIA and Eastern Bypass will now cost Sh. 330, Museum Hill to Southern Bypass will now be charged Sh. 250, while Museum Hill to Haile Selassie and Capital Hill exit will be charged Sh. 170.
