NBK inks deal with Airtel to provide mobile banking services

The National Bank has joined hands with Airtel to enable its customers access mobile banking services through Airtel Money.

The partnership allows Airtel agents to become agents of NBK.

NBK, on the other hand, will offer Airtel mobile services at all its branches, ATM and agent outlets.

“We are delighted because this is a partnership that brings on board free mobile banking services for NBK and Airtel customers for the first three months, thereafter, minimal charges will be put on all transactions made,” said NBK managing director Munir Sheikh Ahmed at a press in Nairobi briefing on Wednesday.

Customers will also transfer money from their NBK accounts through Natmobile available on Airtel Money and vice versa.

Airtel chief executive Adil El Youssefi said at the launch that the deal will make a massive difference to Airtel customers, as the service comes along with the freedom to manage an account on mobile phones.

“We remain committed to continue investing in bringing the best in class, innovative, relevant products and services that win customer delight in the years to come,” he said.
