Nelson Jeremy: I just got back from an adrenaline-filled weekend at the epic Safari Rally 2023, and let me tell you, it was a wild ride!

The event brought together the finest drivers from around the globe to conquer the challenging terrains of Kenya, and boy, did they put on a show!

The Rally kicked off on Friday with a stunning ceremonial start at the iconic Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi. The atmosphere was electric, with roaring engines and the cheers of thousands of passionate fans. The energy was palpable as the competitors revved their engines, ready to tackle the rugged African landscape.

I took the racers deep into the heart of Loldia, Geothermal and Kedong, showcasing the picturesque beauty of Kenya’s wildlife-rich plains. The drivers had to manoeuvre through dusty tracks, encounter breathtaking wildlife, and navigate treacherous sections. It was an awe-inspiring spectacle that truly embodied the spirit of the Safari Rally.

The day brought a whole new set of challenges as the teams ventured into the scenic Sleeping Warrior, Elementeita and River crossings of Soysambu. The landscape changed dramatically, with rocky outcrops, steep cliffs, and winding roads that demanded absolute precision from the drivers. The adrenaline rush was intense as they pushed their cars to the limit, battling both the terrain and the clock.

The competitors faced the ultimate test—the gruelling Power Stage. This short but intense section pushed their skills to the edge as they showcased their mastery of speed, control, and nerves of steel. The crowd held their breath as the drivers left everything on the line, vying for those precious extra points.

In the end, we witnessed an incredible victory by the legendary Sebastien Ogier, who clinched the Safari Rally crown for team Toyota. The Frenchman displayed remarkable skill and determination, proving once again why he is a true champion. Kudos to all the participants for their incredible performances and unwavering spirit!

The Safari Rally 2023 was not just about the drivers. It was a festival of motorsport that brought together people from all walks of life, united by their passion for racing.
