NIC Bank signs deal to be Safaricom, MoneyGram agent

NIC Bank has signed a deal to be a Safaricom, MoneyGram and Western Union agent in a strategic move to increase its customer base.

The bank’s partnership with Safaricom’s M-pesa will see the financial institution offer transactional services including purchasing of float to M-PESA agents.

The bank has also announced that Kenyans can now walk into any NIC banking hall and carry out MoneyGram and Western Union transactions.

GROW CUSTOMERS

“This partnership is in line with the banks strategic agenda to grow our customer base, both across Retail and SME segments by offering a wide range of products and services. It also positions us to grow our diaspora proposition and tap to the growing remittances into Kenya through MoneyGram and Western Union,” said NIC Bank Group Managing Director John Gachora.

According to a statement from the bank, the new solutions are part of the bank’s three year strategy to become a one-stop shop proposition. This is by offering convenience in line with its Move to Now philosophy, which caters for customers on the go who are looking for easier, faster and convenient banking.
