A police officer from Njoro last night shot his girlfriend fifteen times before killing himself. The Njoro cop who was married is said to have walked to Njoro Sub-county Hospital where his girlfriend was and shot her to death.
The Njoro cop who was identified as 28 year old police constable Bernard Sivo walked into the hospital an hour after his girlfriend Mary Nyambura, 29, was brought in for treatment. The security guard at the hospital, Vincent Lematoo said that Bernard had walked into the hospital fuming with rage. “He came here at around 12am. This was an hour after the lady. He pushed his way in and shot her,” said Lematoo. This incident was confirmed by Njoro Sub County Police Commander Jonathan Kisaka.
Kisaka said that Mary had gone to the hospital with broken legs after he had been assaulted by Bernard. ““It is a sad morning in Njoro. We had an incident at around 0023hours where the OCS Njoro received information of a patient who had gone to the hospital to seek medication after being assaulted by a person she claimed was her boyfriend. Soon after another person showed up at the hospital and it later emerged he was the one who had assaulted her. He was armed and he shot the patient from his Ak 47 riffle. He was later identified as a police officer stationed at the Njoro Police station,” Kisaka said.

Reports say that after leaving the hospital, Bernard had returned home where he informed his wife that the woman she was having differences with was dead. He then shot in the air aimlessly. It appeared that his home was close to his station, where police officers said he shot aimlessly. This forced police officers to be mobilized to neutralize him. It is then that Bernard reportedly turned the gun on himself.
