NSE bonus issue to raise share capital to Sh. 1 billion

The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) shareholders yesterday approved an additional 126.5 million new shares in a move that will see the company’s share capital increase to Sh. 1 billion. Previously, the NSE had a paid-up capital of Sh778 million.

The NSE shareholders also approved the increase of authorized share capital from Sh. 850 million to Sh.1.5 billion by creating an extra shares.

However, out of all these shares, only Sh1.037 billion will be paid-up share capital after shareholders approved the bonus issue. The issued shares will be listed on the NSE while the rest can be issued in future.

NSE shareholders also approved a final dividend of Sh0.49 per ordinary share amounting to Sh95.4 million for the year ended December 31, 2015. This was an increment from Sh0.38 per share amounting to Sh74 million paid in 2014.
