NYS announces over 700 job vacancies: How to apply

The National Youth Service (NYS) has announced mass technical jobs for Kenyans across various categories.

In a notice on Tuesday, March 3, NYS announced 250 Cadet Officer positions and 500 Private vacancies targeting ex-NYS servicemen and women.

“The National Youth Service is pleased to announce to the public the recruitment of private and cadet officers in the following categories,” read part of the National Youth Service statement in part.

The advertised Cadet Officer positions are:

1. Structural Engineer – (4 vacancies)
2. Electrical Engineer – (3 vacancies)
3. Mechanical Engineer – (5 vacancies)
4. Architect – (3 vacancies)
5. Civil Engineer – (10 vacancies)
6. Water Engineer – (4 vacancies)
7. Quantity Surveyor – (3 vacancies)
8. Land Surveyor – (3 vacancies)
9. Finance Officer – (4 vacancies)
10. Accountant – (15 vacancies)
11. Auditor – (6 vacancies)
12. Supply Chain Management Officers – (15 vacancies)
13. Economist/Statistician – (3 vacancies)
14. Entrepreneurship Officer – (4 vacancies)
15. Marketing Officer – (3 vacancies)
16. Corporate Communication Officer – (4 vacancies)
17. Legal Officer – (2 vacancies)
18. Chaplain – (2 vacancies)

10. Panel Beater – (20 vacancies)
11. Motor Vehicle Mechanic – (25 vacancies)
12. Welders – (20 vacancies)
13. General Duty – (160 vacancies)

Requirements:

To qualify for Cadet Officer positions, applicants must be Kenyan Citizens aged between 18 and 28 years with at least a Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum KCSE grade of C+ (plus), and C– (Minus) for Diploma holders.

Privates must possess KCSE grade D+ (plus) and MUST have NYS Discharge Certificate, have a valid Kenyan National Identity Card (ID) and KRA PIN Certificate.

On the other hand Ex-NYS Service men/women must have a minimum of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education D+ (plus) or its approved equivalent.

They must also have undergone the initial NYS Paramilitary Training, and must have a National Trade Test, Craft or Diploma Certificate in the above-listed courses.

Successful applicants will be hired on permanent and pensionable terms. Other benefits include medical cover under the SHA scheme and allowances in line with the NYS salary scale.

Interested candidates are are required to download and complete the Application for Employment Form – PSC.2 (Revised 2016) from the Public Service Commission website.

Duly completed application forms should be submitted through any one of the following methods:

(ii) Through post office: Send the form in a sealed envelope clearly marked with the title of the position applied for to:

(iii) Sealed hand-delivered applications can be dropped at the Registry – National Youth Service Headquarters, Ruaraka, Thika Road, Ground Floor.
