The National Youth Service (NYS) has announced mass technical jobs for Kenyans across various categories.
In a notice on Tuesday, March 3, NYS announced 250 Cadet Officer positions and 500 Private vacancies targeting ex-NYS servicemen and women.
“The National Youth Service is pleased to announce to the public the recruitment of private and cadet officers in the following categories,” read part of the National Youth Service statement in part.
The advertised Cadet Officer positions are:
- Structural Engineer – (4 vacancies)
- Electrical Engineer – (3 vacancies)
- Mechanical Engineer – (5 vacancies)
- Architect – (3 vacancies)
- Civil Engineer – (10 vacancies)
- Water Engineer – (4 vacancies)

Requirements:
To qualify for Cadet Officer positions, applicants must be Kenyan Citizens aged between 18 and 28 years with at least a Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum KCSE grade of C+ (plus), and C– (Minus) for Diploma holders.
Privates must possess KCSE grade D+ (plus) and MUST have NYS Discharge Certificate, have a valid Kenyan National Identity Card (ID) and KRA PIN Certificate.
On the other hand Ex-NYS Service men/women must have a minimum of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education D+ (plus) or its approved equivalent.
They must also have undergone the initial NYS Paramilitary Training, and must have a National Trade Test, Craft or Diploma Certificate in the above-listed courses.
Successful applicants will be hired on permanent and pensionable terms. Other benefits include medical cover under the SHA scheme and allowances in line with the NYS salary scale.
