Octagon Africa MD: Octagon Africa has appointed Godwin Simba as its new Group Executive Director of Strategy and Product Development to drive product development and innovation within the region.
Godwin Simba is a seasoned professional with vast experience in retirement benefits consulting, investment advisory, pension inclusion, business re-engineering and innovation with managerial experience in leading teams, business strategy development and execution, product, and market development.
Prior to his appointment, Godwin served as the Managing Director of Octagon Pension Services Kenya where he managed a portfolio of over KES 70 Billion in pension administration for different corporate and individual clients. Previously held positions include roles such as the Head of Business Development and Strategy at Octagon Africa and Portfolio Manager at Co-op Trust Investment Services.
“Godwin has been instrumental in steering the growth of our pension business in Kenya and growing the pension penetration rate in Kenya through innovative pension solutions and product development such as the premier of the first micro-pension solution MOBIKEZA. We are confident that his immense experience and understanding of the regional markets will be crucial in providing the strategic direction for our pension and insurance businesses moving forward amidst the unique business challenges posed by the pandemic,” said Octagon Africa Group CEO Fred Waswa.
Godwin holds a Master of Business Administration in Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Commerce in Actuarial Science from Kenyatta University. In addition, he holds a Certificate in Retirement Provision from the Pension Management Institute (UK) and is a Certified Public Secretary of Kenya (CPS-K). He is also a certified trainer of trainers and a certified curriculum developer in pension management by TVET Curriculum Development, Assessment and Certification Council having pioneered the Institute of Pension Management (Kenya) Curriculum development in 2016.
