Omosh: Please help! I’m broke and unable to pay rent, buy food

Omosh Tahidi High: Former Tahidi High actor Joseph Kinuthia Kamau popularly known as Omosh and his family are set to be evicted from their house over Sh. 100,000 rent arrears.

Omosh says that this is after his career as an actor took a downturn. He says that life has been difficult for him and his household, and he is currently in need of financial assistance. He has not paid rent for nearly one year leading to his current predicament. “Providing food and other basic needs for my family has been a major problem. The landlord wants to collect everything from me,” said Omosh who lives in Nairobi’s Eastlands area. “Maisha imekuwa ngumu na hata watoi wanakuwa affected na vile maisha yangu imekuwa.”

In 2018, Omosh recounted his long struggle with alcohol addiction, admitting that at one point he could barely ‘function’ without a drink.

The actor, who starred for years in his role as an errant school groundsman in the TV drama Tahidi High, made the revelation in a recent interview with a local media house.

“Let’s just say I really consumed a lot of alcohol over the past 20 years. I could not function without alcohol in my system. I remember at times I had to hide from my colleagues to take a sip or tot to be able to function,” the father of four recounted.

“I could get off stage during a show, or even find an excuse to leave home so that I can take a drink,” he further added. Omosh, who also is an emcee, said that he finally quit drinking because the habit was draining his finances to an extent he was often unable to cater for his family’s needs. Omosh Tahidi High.
