Andrew Kinoti: I make Sh. 2.2 million per acre through organic farming

Recent technological advancements have seen significant transitions in agriculture, which was organically done in the past by using naturally made fertilizers and pesticides compared to the modern genetically modified farm inputs.

Organic farming meant producing highly nutritious farm products with fewer worries for consumers about the effects the products might cause.

Ecologically based farming uses animal and crop waste to develop biological agriculture, compost, fertilizers, and the green manure used in this organic agriculture.

To maintain the crop and the soil in good health at all times, organic farming does not condone or include the utilization of genetically engineered fertilizers, organisms, antibiotics, or growth hormones.

This fortune farming has crowned Andrew Kinoti a fortune millionaire by organically farming dragon fruit.

In an interview with Kenyans.co.ke, the fortune farmer stressed the prospects of the dragon fruit as a new crop for Kenyan farmers because it thrives in the country’s hot climate and uses minimal water.

“The fruit of this crop is appreciated worldwide as a super fruit for its positive health benefits, high nutritional value, and other nutraceutical benefits.”

Kinoti also contended that the domestic and international market patterns indicate a rising need for novel, exotic fruits. Additionally, numerous commercial commodities, including jams, juices, flavorings, wine syrups, and medications, can be produced from this fortune dragon fruit.

“It makes a very fragrant and refreshing tea, which is made from its flowers and roots. Like many other fruits, the dragon fruit has great medicinal benefits, and many people have grown to trust and depend on it. The flower buds and fruit peels are used to make soups too.”

According to Economics in Dragon Fruit Farming, the fruits can sell for up to Sh. 950 each fruit and are retailed for between Sh. 1,000 and Sh. 2,500 per kg. The typical farm gate price of the dragon fruit ranges from Sh. 500 to Sh. 800 per kilogram.

The following formula is used to determine the yearly income for a plot measuring one Acre: One Acre x 450 Poles x 10 kg (at the very least) x Sh. 500 (at the very least) = Sh. 2.25 million for every Acre annually.

Dragon fruit farming is a new cash crop that is exceedingly profitable, and the organic dragon fruit farmer urged businesspeople and farmers to start it. He urges them to choose the type of agriculture or farming they wish to pursue and ensure they have acquired enough resources and information to comprehend the potential problems.

Potential farmers should consider how to generate their own manure, use natural insect, pest, and weed management, and create livestock feed, depending on their agricultural practice. These considerations will save a farmer a lot of money.

The possibility is high that one might only be able to make some of the feeds, as some require the assistance of experts in the industry.

Thus, it is wise to get their necessities and try one’s best to supplement to what they purchase.
