Papa Shirandula ‘Njoro’: A look at rental houses he owns in Machakos, Nairobi, and Kiserian

Kenyan actor and businessman Ken Gichoya, famously known as Njoro Shindarula, has made a name for himself in the entertainment industry and the world of business. One of his successful business ventures is real estate, where he owns rental houses in different parts of Kenya.

Here is a list of rental houses he owns in Machakos, Nairobi, and Kiserian.

Mutalia, Joska, Machakos County

Njoro owns a rental block in Mutalia, Joska, Machakos County, where each unit earns him Ksh. 10,000 per month. However, being a landlord comes with its fair share of challenges. In an interview with Dr. Kingori on The Wicked Edition, Njoro shared how he had to weld a door of a tenant while she was inside to force her to vacate his house after staying for six months without clearing her rent. Despite this, Njoro continues to invest in real estate, driven by his mother’s advice to invest in land instead of a car.

“My mum used to push me to invest. She would tell me to buy land instead of a car. She told me one day I might look back and be shocked because I had nothing to show for it. Do not wait till you get a huge amount of money. Use the little money you have.” He said.

Utawala and Ruai, Nairobi County

Apart from Machakos County, Njoro also owns rental units in Utawala and Ruai, both in Nairobi County. These areas are known for their rapidly growing population, which presents an opportunity for real estate investors to earn passive income. The units in Utawala and Ruai range from one-bedroom to three-bedroom apartments, catering to different family sizes and budgets. The rental income from these units is a steady stream of income that Njoro can rely on.

Kiserian, Kajiado County

In addition to Machakos and Nairobi County, Njoro also owns a rental house in Kiserian, Kajiado County. This is a prime location for real estate investment, given its proximity to Nairobi and the growing demand for affordable housing. The rental house in Kiserian has multiple units, providing tenants with a choice of apartments that meet their needs.

However, being a landlord is not always a smooth ride. Njoro shared how his tenant slashed his car tires after he claimed he had not paid him his rent. The agitated tenant showed him evidence by way of a message confirming the payments had been made before proceeding to slash his car tires.

Despite owning rental houses, Njoro who is a father of three, possesses a bar, matatus, and a hardware store in Ongata Rongai that is handled by his brother-in-law.

In an interview with Churchill on ‘The Journey Series’, the actor disclosed that he had no interest in acting and instead, he was more inclined towards business.

He said, “I did not want to be an actor. I was more focused on business.” Njoro acknowledged that his accomplishment in the business world is due to his wife, who manages all their ventures. He mentioned, “I let my wife handle the businesses, and she provides me with the books at the end of the month.”
