PCEA Malaa pastor runs away with tithe, donations forcing church closure

Co-Op post

Followers of the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) in Malaa along Kangundo road have closed their church for 2 weeks.

This follows allegations that the church reverend has allegedly squandered all the money meant for the church’s construction.

According to the church faithful, their Reverend Moses Muiruri Kairuki has been tapping into money meant for church development for personal gains.

The churchgoers resorted to writing numerous letters to the PCEA headquarters but they remained silent on the matter.

Furthermore, the believers in unison accused their reverend of immoral behaviors. The claims against the reverend are that he has, on several occasions, made untoward advances toward the church members when they have visited his office.

In September this year, members approached the reverend through a representative in the church but their complaints haven’t been heard since then.

They are also lamenting that the PCEA headquarters did not address all their efforts to recover the misappropriated funds.

However, it is unclear how much the reverend took and where he wandered off after stealing church funds when his devious plan was unearthed. It is not also clear whether the area police were involved in helping recover the money meant for church development.

For 2 weeks now, the believers have been conducting their church fellowship outside the church compound.
