Peter Gachina completed his KCSE exams with the 2022 graduating cohort. An astute young man working at a construction site, Peter Gachina scored an A in his national exams.

Cabinet Secretary for Education Ezekiel Machogu revealed that male students performed much better than their female counterparts in KCSE.

Dressed in construction site clothes, a pair of boots and a helmet, Peter Gachina was celebrated by his father, Daniel Njuguna and his mjengo colleagues.

In the video that has since gone viral, Peter is seen carried high by his family and friends as they sang songs of praise. Peter was seen standing next to his proud father who gave a short speech on how impressed he was.

Mr. Njuguna noted that the young man studied through high school with mjengo money and had performed exemplarily well in his KCSE results, posting an A.

“We’ve come here because of this young man called Peter Gachina. The people of mjengo are very happy because this boy has done us well and gotten an A,” he said.

Expressing his delight, in his gratifying speech, Mr. Njuguna noted that Peter Gachina was surely heading to the university for further studies.

“He’s been schooled by ‘mjengo money’ and we are so happy because he’s a University material. Me being one of them and their pastor they’re delighted to celebrate this achievement,” added Mr. Njuguna.

The father however did not disclose the school where Peter Gachina studied. The family comes from Ruiru and they pleaded with local leaders to help their son pursue his dreams.
