Audi, Land Rover Discovery drivers stealing fuel from petrol stations

Cases of Kenyan drivers failing to pay after fuelling and speeding off petrol stations have been on the rise.

A case of a young Audi driver, with registration plate KCS 835S, was reported earlier at the Kikuyu Police Station. The driver of the fancy car fuelled Sh. 8,000 at Ola Petrol Station at Gitaru along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

After the fuel attendant had served him, the driver sped off the petrol station, leaving the attendant in a mess with his employer. Luckily, the CCTV cameras captured the ordeal at the scene.

Co-Op post

Road Safety agency Sikika posted the offence on their social media handles, requesting netizens to aid in the discovery of the owner of the vehicle.

“The driver of this Audi KCS 835S fuelled Sh. 8,000 at Ola Petrol Station Gitaru along Nairobi-Nakuru highway and then drove off at speed without paying. We are pushing for these drivers to be arrested because this is criminal,”

The young driver’s friends identified him. However, he ignored their numerous calls. Shamefully, on Tuesday 7th, Sikika announced that the young man’s parents had settled the bill with Ola Petrol Station.

The surprise for many Kenyans was that a driver with such a deluxe vehicle; Audi, failed to pay for fuel.

Similarly, a Nairobi driver with an upper-class Land Rover Discovery was exposed on January 29th after he bought fuel worth Sh. 10,000 and failed to pay.

The driver committed the offence at Shell Petrol Station in Kiserian. According to Sikika Road Safety, the vehicle’s registration was KBV 484R.

“You can RUN but you can’t hide. You will have to pay the money. The driver of KBV 484R Discovery fuelled at Shell Kiserian Sh. 10,000 and drove off without paying,” Sikika wrote on their Socials.

An update days later from Sikika showed that the Land Rover Discovery driver paid his bills after police followed up on the case.

Here are some of the comments from Netizens reacting to the news.

Timothy Simiyu: A Land Rover Discovery is quite an expensive vehicle to buy and maintain. Definitely not a vehicle choice for the average motorist. If by chance you find it too expensive, simply get rid of it and look for something else reasonably priced.

Brevian: Someone driving a Discovery failing to pay suh an amount of fuel?? Doesn’t add up

Rophus Sanga: It’s high time fuel attendants receive money first before the service.
